Women are powerful agents of change, and though diversity and gender equality have made progress, women continue to be vastly under-represented in decision-making in business, and the mortgage industry. That’s why it’s important that Nationwide Mortgage Banker’s has committed to placing even more women in leadership roles. For the month of March, we interviewed five female leaders at NMB in order to dive into their journey and honor our women in leadership.
We start our women in leadership celebration with loan officer Stephanie Stoltz from NMB’s Cleveland, Ohio office.
Who are your role models or people who have influenced you most throughout your life or career?
My grandmother – Mammy – she was the best possible version of a human in my life.
Which NMB core value connects with you the most and why?
UNITY Matters. NMB’s company culture is very collaborative & supportive. We end our weekly call with the statement We are passionate about who we are today and more passionate about who we will become together.
What is something that not many people know about you, something that can’t be found in your bio online, something that people can’t google about you?
I have an unhealthy addiction to the sun, and I love Peach jelly bellies.
What do you find most fulfilling about your work?
Having the privilege of being an integral part of people purchasing their home.
How long have you been in the mortgage industry?
Four years and counting.
How and why did you decide to get into this industry?
When I was able to purchase my home for my kiddos, I was so grateful to my loan officer for her making it happen – I wanted to do that for other people.
What are some key factors that have played a role in your development through your company, your career, and your industry?
I’m a math geek so the financial/numbers piece was natural fit, also being a financial advisor earlier in my career. While reading & training is helpful, I believe I learn & morph best from experience and as new situations present themselves, I learn every day.

I would like to think positively. I strive to keep my agent partner’s customers a priority, be competitive, keep everyone updated throughout the process and do what I say I’m going to do.
